Furnace Creek Outfitters is owned and operated by experienced hunters, who practice
conservation of all our natural resources. We work with the Missouri conservation department
and their biologist to plant food plots and practice selective hunting.
Call us for information, even if you can't get around too well. We may be able to accommodate
you.
We are limiting the number of hunters so we can manage the hunt and the deer population.
Last year's hunt was good. We took two 11 points, two 10 points, and three 8 points. The 11
point measured 145 green. The other 11 point was 142 green.
We had a lot of bad weather days. Due to the good box stands, we survived. We have 14 box
stands now. There are 4 doubles and the rest are singles.
We converted another 100 acres of row crops into CRP with warm season grass and 38,000
trees. The wildlife habitat consists mostly of alfalfa, clover, wildflowers, trees and shrubs.
We will maintain our food plots and calcium and salt licks. In early spring we'll plant grain food
plots in hope of drawing in more deer and keeping the ones we have. We also have an ideal
habitat for turkey.
According to the conservation department, deer population is down state wide in MO, KS, IL
and Iowa. Our recent game cam photos are of some good bucks still in our area.
The quail and pheasant population are increasing due to good habitat management.
